UTECH's Alfred Sangster Auditorium, 5 March 2023
Distinguished Mr. Andrew Lue, President of Jamaica Table Tennis Association(JTTA),
Distinguished Mr. Wayne Tai, First Vice President of the JTTA,
Dear friends, ladies and gentlemen,
Dear ping-pong players,
Good afternoon. Wah Gwaan!
It is my great pleasure to attend today’s event. I appreciate all the efforts made by the Optical Solutions and the JTTA for organizing this tournament. First of all, I want to extend my greetings to all the junior and senior participants and send my warm congratulations to the winners.
Just now, I watched the exciting and wonderful competition, and had a strong feeling that our Jamaican friends have great talent in playing ping-pong. Ping-pong is one of the favourite sports in China, and it has been considered as China’s national sport. China has many famous and top-ranked ping-pong players, and is thus called the powerhouse in ping-pong. Just like Jamaica is the powerhouse in sprint.
Actually, ping-pong is not only a sport, but also a bridge connecting people from different countries and culture as well as a platform promoting exchanges, mutual understanding and friendship among peoples.
Exchanges and cooperation in sports, including ping-pong, is an important part of China-Jamaica people-to-people exchanges. I hope you keep interest and passion for playing ping-pong, practice more and improve your skill. I also hope that one day you could go to China for exchanges, training and competition.
At last, I know that the winners will go towards the JTTA’s campaign to the CRTTF Senior and Junior Championships in Georgetown Guyana this month, and I wish you all good performance there and fully enjoy the competition!
Thank you all!
