Chinese Painting Exhibition Held at Olympia Gallery


On December 5th, the Great Beauty Sichuan - Chinese Painting Exhibition, jointly held by the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Jamaica and Sichuan Federation of Literary and Art Circles, was opened at the Olympia Gallery in Kingston, Jamaica. H.E. NIU Qingbao, Chinese Ambassador to Jamaica, and the Honourable Olivia Grange, Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sports of Jamaica addressed respectively. Also present were the Honourable Thomas Tavares-Finson, President of the Senate, Miss Shorna-Kay Richards, Director of Bilateral Relations of Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, representatives from Jamaican government, Jamaica-China Friendship Association, Chinese expatriates and enterprises in Jamaica, members of Diplomatic Corps and art lovers from all fields.

The exhibition is the closing event to commemorate the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Jamaica. The 40-plus paintings on show are the works of well-famed painters from Sichuan Province, showcasing its natural beauty and local culture. The exhibition will be open to the public free of charge from December 5th to 16th.
