Jamaican Student Got Sinopharm Scholarship

On September 20, the Scholarship Presentation Ceremony of China Sinopharm was held at Jamaica House.

Addressing the ceremony, H.E. Mr. Tian Qi, Chinese Ambassador expressed his congratulations to the student, Tagera Tanyalee Ottey. He commended this as another good example of cooperation in the field of public health between the two countries, which is not only a technical study, but also a cultural exchange. He hoped the student could learn well in China and make contributions to the public health development of her homeland and the deepening of friendship between China and Jamaica.

Mr.Lester Michael Henry, Minister Without Portfolio in the Office of the Prime Minister thanked the Government of China and Sinopharm for the generous offer, which has been seen as an important linkage to deepening mutual understanding and strengthening friendship between the two countries. He hoped Ottey to cherish the valuable opportunity to improve technical skills and experience Chinese culture, promote the development of Jamaica's public health and serve as ambassador of friendship between the two countries.

Tagera Tanyalee Ottey, the lucky student was granted JMD5,000,000 scholarship for her six-year study at Anhui Medical University of China as a full-time student for the program of MBBS( Bachelor degree of Clinical Medicine and Surgery).
