On April 23rd, 2020, H.E. Tian Qi, Chinese Ambassador to Jamaica and Mr Howard Lynch, Director of Policy, Planning and Development, Ministry of Health and Wellness (MOH), Jamaica, signed the Handover Certificate of the China-Aided Anti-COVID-19 Medical Supplies Project. Honorable Kimina Johnson-Smith, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade (MFAFT), Ms. Ava Timerlake, Director of International Cooperation, MOH, and Economic and Commercial Counsellor Fan Jianghong of the Embassy attended the ceremony.

The Chinese Government supports Jamaica's fighting against the COVID-19 outbreak by donating medical supplies including N95 surgical masks, disposable medical isolation gowns, disposable medical boot covers, medical protective glasses, disposable medical gloves, and forehead thermometers.

Both sides agreed that the donation embodied what everyone calls "A friend in need is a friend indeed", and that the pandemic is a common enemy the humanity now faces that must be dealt with through collaboration and concerted effort and that together we will prevail.
