Prime Minister of Jamaica sends Congratulatory Message to the Chinese Premier on the Occasion of the 56th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China
2005-09-26

On September 26, 2005, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Jamaica addressed a Note to the Chinese Embassy in Jamaica, requesting the latter to convey the congratulatory message from Prime Minister Patterson to Premier Wen Jiabao of China on the occasion of the 56th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. The following is the full text of the congratulatory message:

"On behalf of the Government and People of Jamaica, it gives me great pleasure to convey, to the Government and People of the People's Republic of China, warmest congratulations on the commemoration of the 56th Anniversary of the People's Republic.

On this auspicious occasion, we take special pleasure in commending the great strides made by your country in the pursuit of economic and social development, in addition to the important role China continues to play in international affairs.

I am especially gratified at the ever-increasingly levels of cooperation and high-level official contacts that have occurred between our countries in recent years. These contacts have served to increase the opportunities for effective collaboration in several areas.

My recent visit in June of this year, which resulted in the signing of a number of economic and technical assistance agreements, has also solidified our relations. Jamaica is committed to exploring new opportunities for the further strengthening of our relations at the bilateral level and the multilateral levels.

Please accept every good wish for continued peace and prosperity for the citizens of the People's Republic of China."
