On May 16, Vice Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi met with the high-level inspection group of Latin American media

Yang made positive comments on bilateral relations, as well as achievements of bilateral cooperation in all areas, indicating that China has always deemed Latin America a good partner and friend. To further strengthen bilateral friendly cooperative relations conforms to fundamental interest of both peoples and is also conducive to enhancing unity and cooperation among developing nations. China would like to make joint efforts with Latin American countries to open up a new situation for bilateral friendly cooperation of mutual benefits. Yang also took questions from journalists on bilateral economic and trade cooperation, China's path to peaceful development and other issues.

The members of the inspection group indicated that this visit has offered a rare opportunity for Latin American media to have a close understanding of China's developments in all areas and they would like to play a positive role in building up understanding between people of both sides and pushing for bilateral friendly cooperation.

The inspection group is formed by directors from 8 mainstream media of 6 Latin American countries. Besides Beijing, the delegation will also visit Chongqing, Jiangsu and Shanghai.
