On June 6, 2006, Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Yesui held the second round of strategic dialogue in Beijing with the EU "Troika" delegation headed by Hans Winkler, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs of Austria, EU rotating president country. Both sides exchanged candid and in-depth views mainly on China-EU relations, East Asia, economy and energy, as well as other international and regional issues of common interest. Both sides held that strengthened China-EU dialogue and cooperation is not only conducive to sound development of bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership, but also to safeguarding world peace and stability and promoting common development. Both sides made positive comments on the role of China-EU strategic dialogue in strengthening mutual understanding and promoting mutually beneficial cooperation, indicating that they will continue pushing for development of China-EU relations through all levels of political dialogue and consultations.
The first China-EU strategic dialogue was held in London last December.
