On August 1, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and President of China Hu Jintao sent a message of good wishes to Fidel Castro, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Councils of State and of Ministers, following the latter's operation to treat an acute intestinal problem. On behalf of the Communist Party of China (CPC), the Chinese government, the Chinese people and himself, Hu offered his sincere condolence to Castro and wished him a quick recovery.
