Li Zhaoxing Meets with Singapore's Foreign Minister

On January 10, 2007, Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing met with Singapore's Foreign Minister George Yong-Boon Yeo in the central Philippine city of Cebu.

 

Li said bilateral ties have been developing well with close exchanges between the leaders of the two countries and continuously deepening pragmatic cooperation in all areas. China and Singapore share profound common interests and broad prospect for cooperation, Li said, adding that china is ready to work with Singapore to push for friendly cooperation between the two countries.

 

Yeo said both sides share sound relations with broader cooperation areas. Singapore is ready to further strengthen exchanges and cooperation with China and be committed to regional development and prosperity, he said.

 

The two foreign ministers also exchanged views on bilateral free trade arrangement between China and Singapore, China-ASEAN ties, as well as other international and regional issues of common interest.

 

At the invitation of Secretary of Foreign Affairs Romulo of Philippines, Li arrived in Cebu on January 10 for the upcoming China-ASEAN Ministerial Meeting, ASEAN Plus Three Foreign Ministers' Working Lunch, and East Asia Summit Foreign Ministers' Working Lunch to be held there. During his trip, Li will also chair the 4th Meeting of the Three-Party Committee of the PRC, Japan and the ROK.
