At the invitation of the Thai government, Chinese State Councilor Tang Jiaxuan paid a successful working visit to Thailand from February 27 to March 1, 2007.

During his visit, Tang met with Thai King Bhumibol Adulyadej, Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont, President of the Privy Council Prem Tinsulanonda, President of the National Legislative Assembly Meechai Ruchupan, Privy Councilor Siddhi Savetsila, former Prime Minister Chuan Leekphai and Chavalit Yongchaiyudh. State Councilor Tang exchanged views with the Thai side on strengthening Sino-Thai friendly cooperative ties and issues of common concern and reached broad consensus. Tang also attended a ceremony of the exchange of notes on the Chinese government offering a free aid of 8 million yuan (1.05 million U.S. dollars) to a royal project for Thailand's hill tribe development.
