On June 4, 2007, Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister He Yafei met with a delegation of Latin American Organization of Intermediate Governments(OLAGI)headed by Montgomery Sanchez, governor of Ecuador's Ei Oro province.

He made positive comments on positive progress of China-Latin America and China- Ecuador ties in recent years, and appreciated OLAGI's active role in pushing for Latin American integration, as well as in regional exchanges and cooperation between both sides.

Sanchez said OLAGI attaches great importance to developing ties with China and is ready to discuss ways and areas of regional cooperation with various provinces and municipalities of China so as to push for in-depth, steady development of China-Latin America friendly relations.
