Hu Jintao Attends G8 Outreach Session

On June 8, 2007, Chinese President Hu Jintao attended the meeting between the Group of Eight major industrialized nations and five major developing countries including China, India, Brazil, South Africa and Mexico in Germany's Baltic resort of Heiligendamm.

It is reported that the session will focus on issues such as the world economy, protection of intellectual property rights, freedom of investment and social responsibility, energy and climate change, and the development of Africa, as well as other international and regional issues of common concern.

 

After the outreach session, President Hu will be present at a working luncheon hosted by German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

 

Chinese President Hu Jintao will address the upcoming outreach session of the G-8 Summit and the luncheon, presenting China's views on the current international economic and social situations, as well as China's positions on key issues such as climate change in the field of international development. On the sidelines of the session, President Hu is expected to meet some leaders who are attending the session, exchanging views on bilateral ties and international issues of common concern.

 

This is the fourth time for President Hu to attend the G8 outreach session since G8 Evian Summit 2003, G8 Gleneagles Summit 2005 and G8 Saint Petersburg Summit 2006.

 

After the meeting, Hu Jintao will leave Germany for a state visit to Sweden.
