On June 15, 2007, Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi met in the office building of the Foreign Ministry with State Secretary of Slovakian Foreign Ministry Diana Strofova, who is in Beijing to attend the political consultation between Chinese and Slovakian Foreign Ministries.

Both sides made positive comments on the smooth development of bilateral friendly cooperation, expressing willingness to further expand exchanges and cooperation in various fields so as to push bilateral ties to a new level. Strofova reaffirmed Slovakia's adherence to the one-China policy and its support of China's reunification. Yang expressed China's appreciation of such a stance.

Yang said as the two countries share traditional friendship, they should continue to maintain exchanges at all levels including high-level contacts to build mutual understanding and trust and make contributions to China-Slovakia and China-EU ties.
