On June 20, 2007, the 19th annual political consultation between officials of the Foreign Ministries of China and Australia was held in Canberra. Both sides exchanged extensive and in-depth views on bilateral ties and international and regional issues of common concern, agreeing to work together to push forward China-Australia friendly relations and cooperation.
Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister He Yafei and Secretary Michael L'Estrange of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Australia co-chaired the consultation.
On the same day, Australian Foreign Minister Alexander Downer met with the Chinese delegation headed by He Yafei at the Federal Parliament and both sides made positive comments on bilateral ties.
Chinese Ambassador to Australia Zhang Junsai attended the meeting and consultation.
