Yang Jiechi Meets with President of the 72nd Session of the UN General Assembly Miroslav Lajčák

On July 3, 2018, Member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the CPC Central Committee Yang Jiechi met in Beijing with President of the 72nd Session of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly Miroslav Lajčák.

Yang Jiechi expressed that the Central Conference on Work Relating to Foreign Affairs held not long ago established the guiding position of Xi Jinping's thought on diplomacy, which is the fundamental rule and action guide for China to participate in global governance and the UN work. Against the current situation, the international community must adhere to multilateralism, and jointly safeguard global peace, prosperity and stability. China supports the UN to play an active role, and will continue to be a builder of world peace, a contributor to global development and a defender of the international order, and join hands with all countries to build a community with a shared future for mankind.

Speaking positively of China's significant role in the UN affairs, Miroslav Lajčák is willing to strengthen cooperation in multilateral areas with the Chinese side.
